If you are having a life threatening emergency, call 911

Common questions

Answers before you book.

The questions families, caregivers, and facility staff ask us most often.

How do I schedule a ride?

Call 661-405-9105 or send the request form on this site. Tell us the pickup address, destination, appointment time, and what equipment the patient uses. We confirm the trip back to you with a pickup window.

How far in advance should I book?

For routine appointments, 24 to 48 hours ahead gives us the best chance of the exact window you want. Same-day and next-morning trips are often possible, so call and ask rather than assuming we are full.

Do you accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. HCM Med Transport is a Medi-Cal certified non-emergency medical transportation provider. We also work with private insurance, facility billing, and private pay. Tell us the coverage when you book so we can confirm what is needed.

What should I have ready for pickup?

The patient's photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, any oxygen or equipment they normally travel with, the appointment address and time, and the name and number of someone we can reach if plans change.

Wheelchair or gurney, how do I choose?

If the patient can sit upright safely for the length of the trip, wheelchair transport is usually right. If they need to stay lying down or cannot support themselves in a seated position, book gurney transport. If you are unsure, describe the situation and we will recommend the safer option.

Can a family member ride along?

In most cases yes, one companion can ride with the patient. Mention it when booking so the crew reserves the seat.

What are your hours?

We are open every day from 7am to 9pm. If you are having a life threatening emergency, call 911 instead.

How do I cancel or change a trip?

Call 661-405-9105 as soon as you know. Cancelling early frees the slot for another patient, and there is no penalty for a timely cancellation.

Do you go outside the Antelope Valley?

Yes. Longer-distance transports into greater Los Angeles County and neighboring areas are available on request. Call with the destination and we will quote the trip.

What counts as non-emergency medical transportation?

Non-emergency medical transportation is a scheduled ride for a patient who needs medical equipment, a gurney, or trained staff, but is not in a life threatening emergency. Examples are dialysis, specialist appointments, hospital discharges, and facility transfers. If it is an emergency, call 911.

Do you provide round trips to dialysis?

Yes. Dialysis is one of our most common transports. We can schedule the outbound and return legs together, and standing weekly appointments can be booked as a recurring block so you are not calling every time.

How much does a gurney transport cost?

The price depends on the equipment, the distance, and how the trip is paid. Medi-Cal covered trips have no out of pocket cost when the transport is approved. Call 661-405-9105 with the pickup, destination, and coverage and we will quote the trip before the day, never after.

Which cities do you serve?

We serve Lancaster, Palmdale, Quartz Hill, Rosamond, Acton, Littlerock, Lake Los Angeles, and Tehachapi, with longer transports into greater Los Angeles County on request.
